friend friend...

There is no greater blessing than an understanding friend, who's there in times of trouble and on whom we can depend. A friend who knows our every mood And brightens cloudy days, One who's slow to criticize But quick to offer praise. There is no greater blessing Than a friend who always cares, One who will remember us In daily thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your friendship!

All the banknotes have the same guy, the first president of Singapore on the front. On the back of the banknotes are civic virtues. The coins are similar to each other. The front has a coat of arms and the back have flowers. The smaller denominations coins such as the one cent and 5 cent pieces are rarely seen. Stores round up or adjust down to the nearest 10 cents (which is worth about 5 Euro cents or 6 US cents) There are some new banknotes that almost look like the old ones. The main difference is that they are made of thin plastic, not paper. They have a transparent window in 2 corners. They feel like Australian currency.

Just near the Equator is a small tropical island so unusual that it is known by many names. The geographers call it Singapore. Visitors call it Surprising Singapore, "Garden City" and even "Instant Asia." All these descriptions are true.Singapore with a truly international atmosphere with the warmth and friendliness of Asia. It is small - just under 640 square kilometres.

Parco Bugis Junction is a shopping mall that is unique. Built around existing historical Peranakan shop-houses, it has a glass-roof that allows the sun-light to come streaming in (but keeps the rain out!) With the air-condition wafting through, shopping here is a really pleasant experience - removed from the normal humidity that is typical of Singapore. All the mid-to upper range international & Singapore based clothing brands are here: for example, Bossini, Giordano, Urban & Co, BsBy, Pretty Fit (shoes), etc. Tried & Recommended:-Fish balls, Fish Cakes, Beef Noodles, Singapore Laksa, Nyonya Kuih-all yummy and inexpensive!

Singapore is a small country by anyone's measure. Even though it is small the city planners have done an excellent job by allocating space for some beautiful parks. Merlion Park would be the first park we visited and is located next to Marina Bay on the city's edge. It is named for Singapore's tourism symbol the Merlion, half fish, half lion, and contains a statue of the Merlion overlooking Marina Bay.
